Mercaderes Rally to Win

Villalba registered a win at Coliseo Nicolás Pedraza by beating the Sabana Grande Tejedores, 4-2. Pitcher Ladislao Pérez was one reason why the Mercaderes triumphed. Pablo Pérez wrapped it up, recording his 21st save. Villalba is now 61-69. Sabana Grande is 64-64.
One of the clutch hits for Villalba came from one of their biggest talents. In the top of the eighth with one out, Arthur Coates, who is tied for 8th in the LH with a .793 OPS, hit a run-scoring single to put the Mercaderes up, 3-2. For the game, the shortstop was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Villalba manager John Dolan.
