Brillantes Get Past Barceloneta, 4-3
|
The Brillantes grabbed a win, 4-3, at Estadio Felipe Esquibel, overcoming a fine effort from Barceloneta pitcher Eduardo Padilla. Padilla went 7.2 innings and allowed 4 runs. Segundo Peña, 2-5, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. Eugenio Franco nailed down his 2nd save.
Timely hitting helped the Brillantes beat the Marineros. Prime example: the two-out single Jesús Fernández registered in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Francisco Santos, Fernández gave his team the lead, 4-3, when he hit a 2-run single.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Fernández said.
The Brillantes now have a mark of 52-79.
