Lares Upended by Patillas, 4-3
|
Fans watched the Patillas Cuervos and the Lares Fieles fight to the finish.
Starting pitcher Zenón Alvarado pitched well enough to help the Patillas Cuervos beat the Lares Fieles, 4-3. Alvarado got the win, improving to 3-3. He gave up 8 hits and walked 2 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 3 runs.
One of the clutch hits for Patillas came from one of their biggest talents. In the bottom of the seventh with one out, Buenaventura Urrutia, who finished 2nd in the LB in OPS with .884 in 1906, hit a run-scoring single to put the Cuervos up, 4-2. For the game, the left fielder was 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Alvarado said.
The loss drops Lares to 8-14.
