Coquis Slap 5-3 Loss on Leyendas

The Caguas Coquis beat the San Lorenzo Leyendas, 5-3, at Coliseo José Sánchez. The Coquis got a fine performance from designated hitter Sebastián Pérez, who went 3 for 5 with 3 singles. He scored 2 times. Caguas pitcher Ramón Ayala got the win, upping his record to 11-22. Facundo Ramos got the loss. Casto Sánchez, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 6th save.
Caguas left fielder Severo Villareal contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fourth. With two down, he hit a changeup to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 44th hit of the season and put the Coquis ahead, 1-0.
Caguas manager Mateo Santiago was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard," he said.
The second-place Coquis have won 4 straight.
