Hernández Sensational for Esqueletos
|
The skies opened up and the rain fell at Estadio Herodes García.
Pitcher José Hernández was rock solid in helping the Vieques Esqueletos beat the Aibonito Frios, 3-1. With the win, the Esqueletos improved to 64-72.
Hernández, who has sometimes raised the ire of coaches and teammates with his famously lackadaisical work ethic, turned in a spirited effort. The hurler struck out 4 in 9 innings and gave up 1 run.
Hernández, who is tied for 4th in the LH in quality starts with 30, moves to 20-14 on the year with 200 strikeouts.
"José knows how to get ahead of hitters, stay ahead of hitters, and put people out," said Vieques manager Osmundo Chavira.
