Cayey Beats Culebra in Extra Innings
La Plaza de Cayey was the site of some high drama.

Led by 20-year-old Rubén Velásquez, the Cayey Cornupetas downed the Culebra Tortugas, 4-3. Velásquez was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles for Cayey. Cayey reliever Sarpedón Rodríguez picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Lisandro Escalera took the loss.

The knockout blow came in the bottom of the tenth inning. That's when catcher Felipe Prieto stepped to the plate with runners on 2nd and 3rd and hit a run-scoring single, to win the ballgame.

"We're a talented bunch when we're playing well," said Prieto. "I think we showed that here."

Cayey is now 67-69, while Culebra is 51-86.
