The Abilene Preachers had to weather a strong performance from Lubbock pitcher Ricardo Puello before claiming a 3-2 win in 13 innings. Puello went 11.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Bernard Hoff got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. The Preachers lead the Western Association Abilene Circuit by a game.

Abilene got a knockout punch from Dylan Howard. The shortstop hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the 13th inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"This game tested our mettle," said Howard.
