Calva Fashions No-Hitter Against Corsos Friday, October 23rd , 1914 Patillas Cuervos starter René Calva was unhittable at Coliseo Aldo Gallardo. Calva beat the Yauco Corsos, 7-0, breezing through the Corsos lineup en route to a no-hitter. "I thought René started off a little slow and was struggling with his command at first," Cuervos manager Leonel Hernández said later. "He lucked his way through the early innings, and they helped him out by not being patient. Eventually, it all came together for him, and from there on the Corsos never had a chance. He dominated them." Calva struck out 6 batters and issued 2 walks in the performance. His record this season is 27-9 in 43 starts and Calva has a 1.87 ERA.
