Isabela's García Snags Excelentísimo
Thursday, December 3rd , 1914
What does it take to win the Excelentísimo?
Just ask Rafael García of the Isabela Quesiteros -- the latest Liga Hostos Excelentísimo winner.
"My dad always told me to dream big and dream always," he said. "It's not like I shoot for the Excelentísimo," he said. "I have big aspirations for what I want to do in this game and what I want to achieve in a long career."
The Quesiteros pitching ace made some of his dreams come true this year, winning 30 games and losing only 5. In 36 starts, García registered a 1.28 ERA and limited other clubs to a .185 batting average. He fanned 355 in 315.1 innings and issued 84 walks.
Ben Browne of the Utuado Arribenos finished second in voting, while Eduardo Padilla of the Barceloneta Marineros finished third.
