Hidalgo Moves on to Serie Eliminatoria Friday, August 28th , 1914 The Hidalgo Cornicos are off to the Serie Eliminatoria after an exciting Serie Preliminar triumph. Hidalgo downed the Ciudad Mexico Volcanes, but needed the entire series to do so, with a 3-2 win tonight at Estadio Federal wrapping up the series 3-2. "It's every guy in this room that made this happen. Without us all pulling in the same direction, we don't win this series," said Gareth Birch, who earned MVP honors for a standout offensive series. Birch put up a .360 with a .360 on-base percentage in the series. He also had 0 home runs, drove in 5 runs and scored 2 runs himself.
