McCormick Reaches 200 Mark
Saturday, August 22nd , 1914
It was a great day for Moose McCormick, but not a good one for his Mentor Rose Stockings. The 33-year-old left fielder reached a personal milestone with his 200th career homer, but it wasn't enough to beat the Norwalk Maples, who came away with a 9-5 victory. McCormick finished the day with 1 hit, 2 runs batted in and 2 runs scored.

"Well, I've conceded the fact that you can't will yourself to hit a home run," he said. "I tried hard for the last few days. It was getting to be embarrassing with the crowd standing up every time I came to the plate."

McCormick boasts a lifetime batting average of .264 with 1362 hits, 200 homers, 797 runs scored and 707 RBIs.
