Jardineros Win Serie Preliminar Sunday, September 13th , 1914 The Maracay Jardineros have swept the Coro Bizantinos and are on to the Serie Eliminatoria. Maracay won 3-1 today at Jardines de Maracay to clinch the Serie Preliminar. "We're happy to have put the dagger in when we had the chance," said Maracay right fielder José María Jiménez, who was named MVP for the series. "It could have been a tough series to finish if we let them start winning." Jiménez won the award with a .667 batting average and a .667 on-base percentage.
