Slumping Leyendas Lose 7th Straight
|
The Cayey Cornupetas had to overcome a fine effort from San Lorenzo pitcher José Guzmán to win, 3-2, at La Plaza de Cayey. Guzmán went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. The slumping Leyendas have dropped 7 in a row.
Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, slugging third baseman Romualdo Hernández had a chance to be the hero. San Lorenzo pitcher Bienvenido Martínez wanted to foil that plan. But with two outs, Hernández drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Cornupetas had themselves a thrilling win.
"All good teams, all good offenses go through challenging times," said San Lorenzo manager Guarionex Garza. "This is another one."
